Directing a story I have written means encountering it for a second time. For months, the characters exist in my imagination: I know their voices, their gestures, their fears, and their silences. Seeing them come to life for the first time through another person feels like watching a dream suddenly become real.
On set, the story no longer belongs solely to the person who wrote it. The actors, the camera, the light, the spaces, and everyone involved begin to transform it, revealing dimensions that may never have existed on the page.
